Last month, Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Wheat made a deal with the
former Honolulu police chief and his wife, Louis and Katherine Kealoha.
This deal was made following a 3-year investigation over the allegation
of a framed crime, of the theft of their mailbox. The couple is facing
a 20-count indictment for crimes of corruption and abuse of power. These
alleged crimes are being thoroughly investigated, and U.S. Attorney Alana
Wong Robinson claimed, “This is just the beginning.”
The FBI has launched this investigation, executing search warrants at the
Honolulu Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, as well as other various
facilities. The federal investigators are also looking in to the Honolulu
Prosecutor’s Safe House, which is an apartment complex meant as
a sanctuary for victims of sexual abuse, human trafficking, and domestic
violence. This investigation is occurring as a result of the several conditions
surrounding the purchase.
Corruption in law enforcement is nothing new, and it unfortunately plagues
communities, cities, and towns across the nation. This is why our Honolulu
lawyers of The Law Office of Kevin O'Grady, LLC are so passionate
